Email notifications are called Personal Notifiers.
They are essentially Saved Searches that are run once a day and then the results are emailed to you.

Saved Searches are searches that have been run by the user and then saved.
An example of a Saved Search would be CRNA Jobs in Texas.

Here is how to unsubscribe from the Personal Notifier.
    Email notification will stop immediately.

    1. Log in at:

    https://www.gaswork.com/login

That will take you to My Profile – Dashboard.

    2.  Find the category: SAVED SEARCHES / PERSONAL NOTIFIERS

    3.  Under the heading, Notification, click on Summary in the drop down menu next to the saved search that you want to stop getting notified about.  Select None.  That will remove the email notification but keep the Saved Search.

You should see a confirmation message, "Your saved search has been updated."

    4.  Alternatively, you can click on the red REMOVE button next to the Saved Search that you no longer want.
That will not only remove the email notification but the Saved Search as well.

You should see a confirmation message, "Your saved search has been removed."

Definite Job vs. Pending Jobopen all

  • Pending refers to the position NOT the candidate.

Definite Job = Position Fully Funded at the Start Date, No Contingencies

Pending Job = Position NOT Fully Funded or Contingent on something that is NOT related to the candidate.

    *************

In other words, Pending refers to whether or not the position is ready to accept a suitable candidate.
A Pending Job may or may not become a Definite Job since it requires some threshold such as funding or minimum number of recruits. Contingency does not refer to the suitability of an individual

A Pending Job is a job that is not a Definite Job yet.
A Pending Job may or may not become a Definite Job.
Again, Pending does NOT mean contingent on suitability of candidate.

A Pending Job may eventually become a Definite Job.
Therefore, a Pending Job provides useful information about a possible upcoming position.

A Pending Job, however, may not become a Definite Job due to a failure to secure funding or a signed contract.

An example of a Pending Job:
A group is in contract negotiations with a hospital, but they do not have a signed contract.
However, the group wants to begin recruiting even though the position is pending.
The group would post the job as “Pending Job.”
The fly out question, “Why is Job Pending?” would be answered by checking the box next to "Contract Signature."

Candidate Informationopen all

  • Candidates should be aware that it is possible for a single job to be posted several times on GasWork.com by several different recruiting agencies. The recruiting agencies are competing against each other for your attention.

Note: You can use GasWork's Compare feature to compare job posts.

In addition, an organization (agency or non-agency) may inadvertently post the same job multiple times. GasWork's Terms of Service do not allow duplicate posts. Once the organization is notified, the duplicate is usually quickly removed. You can help us by sending the Reference #s of any duplicates on GasWork so we can investigate.

Candidates should also be aware that sometimes a single agency will intentionally post the same job multiple times. "Overposting" of a single job with slight re-wording of the items is technically not a duplicate posting and therefore difficult to monitor and control. In this situation, you can use GasWork's Compare feature to decide if you want to work with an agency that uses this technique.

  • GasWork.com allows you to compare jobs side by side.

  • The primary differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae (CV) are the length, what is included and what each is used for. A resume is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education. While a resume is brief and concise - no more than a page or two, a Curriculum Vitae is a longer (at least two page) and more detailed synopsis.

A Curriculum Vitae includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details. In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, or Asia, employers may expect to receive a curriculum vitae.

In the United States, a curriculum vitae is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. It is also applicable when applying for fellowships or grants.

  • Rarely a user will have a problem viewing the next page of a search result.
The user clicks on "next" and then "zero results" is displayed. There are
a few things that can cause this: ex. Having multiple tabs open, cookie
    issues, etc.

    If this happens
    1. Check your browser’s security settings to make sure that your browser is accepting cookies from GasWork.com
    2.Close your browser
    3. Open the browser
    4. Go to www.gaswork.com
    5. Click on the search again and go directly to the next page.
    6. Set (Upper Right) to: Show 100 results per page

Don't navigate away and then come back or have multiple tabs/windows open with multiple searches.

Please let us know if these solutions worked.

Furthermore if you have any questions, please contact us.
    We are here for you:

    Phone:
    1- 800-828-2203 (Monday-Friday, 9AM-4PM Central Time)

    Email:
    [email protected].

Incidentally, here is our programmer's explanation:
This issue will happen if for any reason the user's session and/or cookies
are wiped or don't exist. The search criteria is stored in the users session
after they submit the search form, so if something happens to the session
while navigating to the different result pages it will effect the displayed
    results.

    Examples of this may be:
    - having multiple tabs/windows open with multiple searches
    - navigating to different pages on the site and then going back to the results page
    - letting the session cookie expire (idle for 8+ hours)

After this happens the user must start the search over, ie: going to the
search page and re-entering the criteria.

  • Usually, the reason that someone can't login is because either their email or password is not correctly entered.
Therefore, Make sure that your Caps Lock and/or Num Lock is correctly set.

There may be a space in the email or password field that the user cannot see.  Put your cursor in each field and click “delete” several times, to make sure the fields are empty, then type in your email and password.

To actually see what password you are typing, you can first type it in Notepad or some word processing program.
Then, just copy exactly (no extra spaces) and paste in the password field.

If that does not work, try reseting your password by clicking on the, "I forgot my password" link:
    https://www.gaswork.com/login/forgot

If it just keeps taking you back to the login screen, try using a different computer to log in.

    1.  Try a different email address.
    2.  Try a different computer.
    3.  Try a different location (Work vs. Home)
    4.  Try Firefox browser. Free at www.firefox.com
    5.  Upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer.
    6.  Clear your browser cache (Instructions below)

    **************

Here is a trick: Display your password by typing it first in the email field:
Normally, you type your password in the Password space (field).
However, because it is a Password field, you are unable to actually see the letters that you are typing.  You could be making a typo and you would not know it.
Therefore, first Type your password in the email space so that you can actually see the letters being typed. When you have your password correct, cut and paste it exactly into the password field.

Make sure that nothing is left in the email field.

Then, go ahead and type in your email in the email field.

    Then click LOGIN

  • It is considered very poor "netiquette" to type in ALL CAPITALS, because it
can be harder to read and because it is seen as tantamount to shouting.
Indeed, this is the oft-used name for the practice.

In order to make GasWork.com as legible as possible, we have prohibited
users from this somewhat rude practice.

One literary expert explained it as the following:
Long spans of Latin-alphabet text in all upper-case are harder to read
because of the absence of the ascenders and descenders found in lower-case letters, which can aid recognition.
